1 dead officer, several reported injuries to a shot at Pennsylvania hospital

An officer was killed and many others were injured during a shooting in a County Hospital in York, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, according to sources of application of the issue informed of the issue.

West York district police officer Andrew Duarte was killed during the UPMC memorial shooting in the canton of West Manchester, the district announced.

Another officer and a nurse would have been shot, said sources of application of the law. It is not known how many people were injured during the shooting.

The shooter is dead and there is no danger to the public, announced on Saturday afternoon.

The incident started around 10:30 am, the sources of application of the law said. West York police police responded and the subject opened fire.

The suspect then apparently tried to barricade himself inside the hospital and, it is believed that he died of a self-inflicted ball injury, according to preliminary information.

Investigators at this stage treat the shooting as an incident of domestic violence, but warned that the investigation is at its beginnings.

The UPMC said no patient had been injured.

“We have received confirmed reports from a shooter at the UPMC Memorime and shot shots,” said a statement. “The shooter was arrested and no patient was injured. The hospital is now safe. This is a fluid situation. The police are on the spot and manages the situation.”
