1 Death, dozens injured in the ardent tourist bus bus near Los Angeles

At least one person was killed and 32 other people were injured in an ardent collision on Sunday morning between a crowded tourist bus and a disabled SUV blocked on a highway in the County of Los Angeles, the authorities said.

The collision occurred just after 5 am on the Pacific on the road to the State 60 near the community not made up of the County of Los Angeles, Hacienda Heights east of downtown Los Angeles, according to a statement by officer Zachary Salazar, spokesperson for California Highway Patrol.

The tourist bus transported 63 passengers when he collided with a Nissan Pathfinder who was disabled in the tracks in the west, the CHP said in a statement. The Nissan caught fire following the collision, according to the press release.

The Nissan driver, whose name was not immediately released, died on the scene after being trapped in the fire vehicle, according to the press release.

The fire did not spread to the tourist bus, but 32 of the 63 people aboard the vehicle were taken to local hospitals for the treatment of injuries, according to Salazar.

The tourist bus driver, identified by the CHP as Suchng du, slammed the disabled SUV, according to a preliminary CHP survey.

“Following the impact, the Nissan Pathfinder was fully swallowed up in the flames, trapping the occupant,” according to the CHP declaration.

After the collision, the bus turned to the right on several tracks of the highway and crashed into a raised metal and a wooden railings along the right shoulder, said the CHP.

Los Angeles County Fire Service said two bus passengers were in critical condition and the remaining victims suffered minor to moderate injuries.

Salazar said the tourist bus was heading for Koreatown in downtown Los Angeles when the accident occurred. He said the bus came from Morongo Valley, about 110 miles east of Los Angeles.

Bus images taken by ABC Los Angeles Station Kabc has shown substantial frontal damage to the vehicle.

He was not immediately clear which caused the disability of the SUV, said Salazar.

CHP said neither alcohol nor drugs seemed to be a factor in the accident.
