Two children and one adult were struck by a driver outside a nursery school in a church in South Carolina in what could have been an intentional act, the authorities said.
Police seek the suspect following the accident of the Sunrise Presbyterian Church on the island of Sullivan, a seaside town just outside Charleston, according to the police sergeant on the island of Palms. Matt Storen.

A child and an adult was taken to hospitals and the third victim was treated on the scene and released, police announced. The child taken to the hospital has since been released, according to a spokesman for the South Carolina Medical University.
Police identified The suspect like Justin Collin Adams, saying that he was wearing a red shirt and dark shorts and should be considered armed and dangerous.

The suspect abandoned his sedan after the accident and would be on foot and armed with a knife, said Storen.
There was no altercation before the incident, according to Storen.

An active man hunt is underway, with research on the group of houses, drones scanning the sky and control points at the entrance to the island of Sullivan, police said. The FBI and the American marshals are involved in the excavation, the police said.
The authorities said they thought the suspect remains on the island of Sullivan.
“Please, beware. Please stay inside your home,” advised the residents of the chief of the island of Sullivan during a press briefing Thursday afternoon. “If you see someone, don’t approach them. Call 911.”
