98 demonstrators arrested at the Trump Tower Sit-In for the activist detained Mahmoud Khalil

At least 98 people were arrested Thursday during a demonstration in Trump Tower’s hall in Manhattan who called for the immediate release of Mahmoud Khalil – Pro -Palestinian activist and green card holder arrested by immigration and customs application this week.
Protesters are faced with accusations of intrusion and resisting arrest, according to the New York police department.
Hundreds of Jewish demonstrators carrying t-shirts “not in our name” organized a sit-in in the hall of Trump Tower in Manhattan. The demonstrators entered the hall in two groups, many of which entered the public hall in civilian clothes hiding their protest equipment below, according to the police.

The demonstrators brought banners in support of Khalil, who was a protest against the war in Gaza at the University of Columbia, who said “the Jews say that Mahmoud said free & Palestine free “and” fight the Nazis and not the students “.
“As a Jews of conscience, we know our history and we know where it leads. This is what the fascists do when they control control. This moment forces all people of conscience to take daring measures to resist the violence and the repression of the state. Mahmoud free now,” said Jane Hirschmann, a Jewish New York whose grandfather and the uncle were Nazis during the rise of Hitler, in power.
The American-Islamic Relations Council has also announced that it will deposit a federal prosecution on behalf of Khalil and other students against the University of Columbia and the American Education and Workhop Committee at the Committee to disclose thousands of student files.

Khalil, who has not been accused of a crime, is currently detained in Louisiana after being detained in New York earlier this week.
His wife, who is 8 months pregnant, said the couple was preparing for the arrival of their baby.
“Mahmoud was snatched from me for no reason. I guess the world continues to express themselves against its unfair and horrible detention of the Trump administration,” she said in a statement in ABC News on Wednesday.
President Donald Trump’s administration allegedly alleged that Khalil – who was a chief of pro -Palestinian demonstrations on the Columbia campus – was a supporter of Hamas. Baher Azmy, one of Khalil’s lawyers, called his client’s alleged alignment with “false and absurd” Hamas.
