Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov discussed the war in Ukraine with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Sunday, Interfax of the Russian state media reported.
“Lavrov and Rubio exchanged points of view on various initiatives concerning the political regulations for the Ukrainian crisis, including plans to resume direct Russian-Ukrainian talks in Istanbul on June 2,” the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release between the two leaders, Interfax reported.

Rubio also “expressed sincere condolences in relation to victims between civilians due to explosions of railway infrastructure in the Bryansk and Kursk regions on June 1,” read the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said interfax.
“On the Russian side, it has been pointed out that the competent authorities conduct the most in -depth investigation, and the results will be published in the very close future. The authors will certainly be identified and will inevitably suffer the deserved punishment,” said the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The spokesman for the State Department, Tammy Bruce, said that the appeal was at the request of Russia and that Rubio “reiterated President Trump’s appeal to continuous direct talks between Russia and Ukraine to achieve lasting peace.”
