Rep. Ro Khanna Eyes Anti-Corruption Agenda in the middle of the critics of the Democratic Party

While the Democrats are trying to bounce back from a disappointing projection in the 2024 elections, the Democrat representative of California, Ro Khanna, takes stock of the spicy defeat last fall, but also takes shots from his own political party.
After watching the Democrats exchange the candidates and having trouble transmitting a coherent message to the voters of the last campaign cycle, Khanna told ABC News in an exclusive interview that he believed that a political reform program focused on corruption “is what we should run in 2026” and deplores the political costs that came to campaign on other priorities in 2024.
“It was a mistake,” said Khanna, adding that he “had heard no political reform program” of President Joe Biden or Vice-President Kamala Harris during their respective presidential campaigns. “Trump became foreigner. It was a mistake that we did not run on the theme of the reform. Getting the money and lobbyists of politics – this should be our coat.”
Now Khanna presents the Drain the law on marshesWho would permanently prohibit from the White House officials to accept lobbyists’ gifts – restoring a mandate from the Biden era which established rules of ethics and lobbying for people appointed to the administration.
“The anti-corruption must be at the heart of rebuilding the democratic brand,” said Khanna, serving her fifth term. “Democrats must be considered to have the reform coat.”

Khanna said he was struggling that one of President Donald Trump’s first acts of his second term was to sign an executive decree to overthrow the Biden’s order – creating the momentum to develop a program that aims at the Washington rotating door between lobbyists and legislators.
“This is part of a broader feeling that Democrats must take place on the anti-corruption,” said Khanna, complaining that the Democratic Party has enabled Trump to “Coopt” the theme “to drain the marsh” of the anti-corruption. Khanna said it had cost her party not only two presidential elections in 2016 and 2024, but also the majority control of the congress.
“We have to be zealous,” said Khanna – explaining her vision of a five -point anti -corruption program.
Khanna wants to prohibit former members of the Congress from lobbying in Congress, and he wants to impose limits at 12 years for members and the 18 -year limits on the judges of the Supreme Court. Khanna says he thinks that the timed judges should come back to sit before lower courts after leaving a post at the High Court. Khanna also advocates a “binding code of ethics” for judges of the Supreme Court in the midst of the ethics pressure on the court.

“If the Democrats want to rebuild, start with anti-political corruption,” said Khanna, adding that he has received a positive reception from a range of people such as billionaire Mark Cuban and even republican voters who support his commitment to “drain the swamp”.
Khanna also calls for the ban on members of the Congress and their families to hold and exchange individual actions during the mandate of the member in power, as well as a ban on members of the Congress and candidates who present themselves to seats in the Chamber or in the Senate to accept the contributions of the political action committees.
As for his own future political interest – be it re -election, the manor of the governor of California or even the White House in 2028 – Khanna keeps her close cards, but her open options.
“RO believes that anti-corruption and economic patriotism must be the motor themes of the Democratic Party for 2026 and 2028, it doesn’t matter who is involved in the fray or directing the party,” said Khanna spokesperson, when he was asked about the political prospects of the Congress.
Nevertheless, Khanna’s profile continues to grow as he faces voters and weighs his future options – sometimes even before the republican public on Fox News or in GOP districts.
After Trump pronounced a joint congress address last week, Khanna continued “Fox News Sunday” and admitted that it was not a good look “as the Democrats protested not only the president, but also rejected the guest guests in the first lady’s box.

“We should have defended the boy with cancer. You defend the President of the United States, out of respect for the American people,” Khanna said in the program. “I mean, you defend the widow of the firefighter.”
“History should have been on President Trump,” said Khanna. “We should have talked about Medicaid cuts. Instead, we are talking about our own behavior. And it is a distraction on our part of our economic message.”
Khanna will also hold three meetings of the town hall in person during a “Advantages on billionaires” on March 23 in the GOP districts, where her anti-corruption program will rise along her progressive correctly.
“It is intelligent to have a clear message,” Khanna told ABC News. “We are the party that will save Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security.”
