Doge arrives at the Peace Corps, should access internal systems: sources

Friday, members of the Ministry of Effective Elon Musk government efficiency arrived at the headquarters of the Peace Corps in Washington, DC, to start an examination of internal systems of the independent agency as part of their government reduction efforts, according to several sources familiar with the problem.
When he was contacted to comment, a spokesperson for the Peace Corps told ABC News: “The staff of the government’s ministry is currently working at the Peace Corps headquarters and the agency supports its requests.”
A White House official also confirmed to ABC News that Doge worked at the Peace Corps.
Sources have told ABC News that the staff of the Peace Corps had been informed that the members of the Doge team will be on site and would work on weekends, and should have access to internal systems.
The staff were also responsible for helping the team create internal accounts, according to sources.
Employees were invited to keep the files of all DOGE requests and have been informed that “equivalent data sets” can be provided at the system of direct access, according to sources.

In the accounting of Friday’s appearance, the staff of the Peace Corps had received updates on the coming arrival of Doge, some increasingly concerned about the fact that the Musk team can seek to dismantle parts of the organization in a similar way to what happened in the USAID, the American agency for international development, said sources.
The Peace Corps, created in 1961 by President John F. Kennedy, then authorized by Congress, recruits and deployed American volunteers to support development efforts around the world.
In his budgetary submission for the 2025 fiscal year at Congress, former President Joe Biden asked for $ 479 million for the Peace Corps, an increase of almost 11% of funding in the previous year.
