Escape from New Orleans prison: award for advice leading to the arrest of 2 remaining fugitives increases to $ 50,000

The reward for the arrest of the two remaining detainees who left a New Orleans prison this month more than doubled at $ 50,000, the authorities announced on Thursday, because the police said they were thinking that they were closing the “dangerous” fugitives.
Antoine Massey and Derrick Groves are among the 10 detainees who escaped from Orleans Justice Center on May 16, according to the police from the State of Louisiana.
During the almost two weeks, eight of the prisoners were captured, but Massey and Groves remain on the run, police said.

There are now awards totaling $ 50,000 per detain for tips leading to their arrest, according to the police superintendent of Louisiana, Col Robert Hodges. This includes the awards offered by the Grande-Nouvelle-Orleans Crimestoppers, the FBI and the Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives office, he said.
Hodges said the police “strong tracks” in the place where the two remaining fugitives are, although they still need advice because of the men’s movement.
“We are convinced that we are closing the two remaining escapees and that we should soon have them in detention,” he said during a press briefing on Thursday. “We are resilient, and although they are tired and frustrated as they try to move around Louisiana or move to the metropolitan region, they know that the walls are getting closer.”
The authorities have urged anyone with information on the place where the two fugitives are to reach out while recognizing that this can be difficult.
“We understand, with our law enforcement partners, that some of you could report a friend, a loved one, a parent, and not easy, it is essential to your security and the security of the public that you point out that,” said Walter Martin, American deputy chief for the Oriental District of Louisiana, during the Briefing.
Martin promised to take up the “dangerous prisoners”. One of them, Groves, was recently convicted of two chiefs of second degree murder in a shooting of the day of fat in 2018 Tuesday and faces a life sentence without possibility of parole, prosecutors said. He also pleaded guilty to two guilty manslaughter, according to the online judicial archives.

This compilation published by the police of the state of Louisiana shows the convicts escaped who have been captured and those who are still at freedom.

Hodges warned that anyone helps the remaining fugitives will be arrested and prosecuted.
“It’s now time to make the right choice,” he said.
Darlene Cusanza, president and chief executive officer of Crimestoppers from Grande-Nouvelle-Orleans, said on Thursday that the organization had received nearly 700 advice related to the escape of detainees, which led to the arrest of three of them. An inmate was arrested within 30 minutes of receiving the tip, she said. Three advice will receive $ 10,000, she said.
The 10 detainees escaped from Orleans Justice Center early in the morning of May 16 after climbing in a hole behind toilet. Their disappearance was not noticed for several hours and approached a massive man hunt.
More than a dozen people have been arrested for suspicion for helping the escapees, including another detainee in the prison and a maintenance worker from the prison accused of having closed water in the toilet allowing escapes to remove it.
Three of the 10 detainees who escaped were apprehended in New Orleans in the first 24 hours of Jailbreak. The others were captured in the following days, especially in Red Baton and two in Texas.
The eight prisoners captured were transported to a secure state establishment in Louisiana, said Hodges.
