Former American lawyer Jessica Aber found dead in Virginia at 43

The former American lawyer for the eastern district of Virginie Jessica Aber was found dead on Saturday morning in Alexandria, Virginia, according to police.

She was 43 years old.

Police in Alexandria, Virginia, were called in a house in Beverly Drive in the suburbs of Washington, DC, around 9:18 am on Saturday for the report of a woman who does not answer, according to a police declaration. They found Aber dead inside.

Former American lawyer Jessica Aber held the post from October 2021 to January 2025.

Police said that an investigation was underway surrounding the circumstances of his death. The office of the Chief Legalist will determine the cause and the mode of death, the police said.

Aber, who was an American lawyer in Virginia for most of the Biden administration, took office in October 2021 after being unanimously confirmed by the Senate and resigned in January, shortly after the inauguration of President Donald Trump.

As an American lawyer, Aber supervised staff of some 300 prosecutors and other staff members and has managed federal proceedings in the state.

She started working at the office from 2009 as an American assistant lawyer, pursuing financial fraud, public corruption, violent crimes and exploitation of children, according to an online biography.

She graduated in the William and Mary Law School law in 2006.

“We have a broken heart beyond the words to learn about the death of our friend and former colleague, the American lawyer Jessica Aber,” said the current American lawyer for the eastern district of Virginia Erik Siebert in a declaration. “She was unequaled as a leader, mentor and prosecutor, and she is simply irreplaceable as a human being. We remain in admiration for what she has accomplished in her too brief in this world.”

Calling him a “proud Virginian from high school to college and throughout his career”, Siebert’s statement continued by saying: “His professionalism, his grace and his legal meaning established the norm. Although we are devastated by this loss, each of us in the Oriental District of Virginia (EDVA) will turn to his example and will endeavor to respect this standard. ”

In a declarationVirginia’s prosecutor General Jason Miyares said he was saddened to learn his death, saying that “his public service career included the American lawyer for the Virginia Oriental District and whose work with Virginia’s ceasefire saved more lives than we could never account for.”

He added: “Our thoughts and prayers are with his family this week.”
