Former President of the Philippines, Rodrigo Duterte, arrested the CPI mandate, said the presidential office

The former president of the Philippines, Rodrigo Duterte, was arrested on Tuesday under an arrest warrant against the international criminal tribunal, who accused him of crimes against humanity in connection with the “war against drugs” he waged during his mandate, said the presidential communications office of the Philippines.
Filipino national police members met the former president when he arrived in Manila, the capital, on a Hong Kong flight, said the office.

Duterteter made a vast “war against drugs” after taking office in 2016. Independent rights organizations accused him of supervising an extrajudicial murder crusade, many of which were made by “death teams”.
According to Human Rights Watch, more than 12,000 people were killed.

Manila officials said they had received a copy of an ICC arrest warrant via Interpol on Tuesday morning. Dozens of officers have invaded Ninoy Aquino International Airport to stop Duterte while he and his collaborators arrived around 9:20 am, the presidential office said.
“The former president and his entourage are in good health and were examined by government doctors,” the office said in a statement published on social networks in Philippin. “They assured that he was in good condition.”
