Pennsylvania lawyer for Luigi Mangione supports research, Arrest was illegal

A defense lawyer for Luigi Mangione, the man accused of having killed the CEO of Unitedhealthcare, insists for a search and a police arrest in a Pennsylvania McDonald at the end of last year.

Mangione was arrested in Altoona, Pennsylvania, after a five -day man hunt for the suspect in the deadly shooting of the CEO of United Healthcare, Brian Thompson, in front of a New York hotel on December 4.

Friday, in a judicial file published in the file of the Pennsylvania court, the lawyer of the Pennsylvania of Mangione, Thomas Dickey, said that Mangione had never been correctly read his rights.

Instead, said Dickey, Altoona Police Service “continued to question and question the accused, without any reading of his rights as Miranda”.

The defense lawyer also said that Mangione had received a “specious and unreasonable” response to explain why the police approached him.

“At no time, the two officers said that the defendant was free to go; they did not explain the reasons why the defendant was detained; apart from that, he looked suspicious and / or remaining his welcome as a customer at McDonalds,” wrote Dickey.

In Pennsylvania, Mangione pleaded not guilty to accusations of counterfeiting, the possession of an instrument of a crime and a false identity document to an officer.

He also pleaded not guilty of murder in New York, a case that has priority on the Pennsylvania case, where the legal dates were deleted and no new dates. Mangione also faces federal accusations, including an accusation of murder thanks to the use of a firearm, which makes him eligible for the death penalty.

His New York lawyer, Karen Friedman Agnifilo, also raised questions about Mangione’s treatment in the Guard of Pennsylvania, arguing during a recent hearing that the images of the police camera indicate that the “constitutional rights of his client have been violated”.

“I think there is a very serious research problem in this case, and there could be evidence that is deleted,” said Agnifilo.
