The structure has undergone “damage to the front entrance and smoke damage throughout the building,” said Fire Rescue.
The words “ICE = KKK” have also been painted by spray on the building, officials said.
The Republican New Mexico party said the incident was an “deliberate criminal fire act”.
“This horrible attack, fueled by hatred and intolerance, is a direct aggression on our values, our freedoms and our right to political expression,” party officials said in a statement Sunday.
Party officials said it was not an isolated incident, saying that it is part of a “worrying model of politically motivated violence that tormented our country – partially fueled by silence and implicit encouragement from progressive leaders who refuse to condemn these acts”.
The republican president of the New Mexico party, Amy Barela said that those who “use violence to undermine our state and our nation were to be held responsible”.
“The Republican New Mexico party will not be reduced to silence,” Barela said in a statement. “We will emerge from this strongest, more united and more determined to fight for the inhabitants of New Mexico and the future of our country.”

Democrat representative of New Mexico Teresa Leger Fernandez added“Political violence is unacceptable, including the criminal fire attack against the new-mexic GOP headquarters. The authors must be held responsible. Each American should be able to participate freely and safely in our democracy.”
Leticia Muñoz, executive director of the Republican Party of the State of the New Mexico, said that she was “grateful to the first stakeholders and the police who saved our office from burning on the ground”.
“My determination is even stronger today to continue” fighting “for our state,” said Muñoz in a statement.
