The Senate confirmed Charles Kushner on Monday to serve as ambassador to France and Monaco.

Kushner was confirmed by a vote of 51-45.

President Donald Trump announced his intention to appoint Kushner to this post in November, calling him “formidable entrepreneur, Philanthrope, & Dealmaker, who will be an ardent defender representing our country & his interests ”, in a declaration on social truth.

Kushner was forgiven by Trump in the president’s first mandate for crimes, including federal tax evasion and FEC violations. Kushner pleaded guilty in 2005 to 18 counts and served two years in prison.

When Kushner appeared before the senatorial committee of foreign relations at the beginning of the month for his hearing on the post, Kushner declared to the panel he had made “very, very, very serious errors”.

But he told the committee that he believed that his mistakes made him “better with my judgment, better in my vision of life, better in my values ​​to make me more qualified to do this work”.

Kushner is the father of Trump son -in -law and former advisor, Jared Kushner.
