Trump names Fox News host Jeanine Pirro as the best prosecutor in DC

President Donald Trump says he will name Fox News host and former prosecutor Jeanine Pirro as an American interim lawyer for the Columbia district.

Trump announced the choice in an article on Truth Social.

The selection comes as Trump told journalists from the Oval Office on Thursday that Ed Martin, who was currently as the main DC acting prosecutor, would not take the post permanently after losing his support among the best Republicans in the Senate.

ABC News reported earlier that Trump was considering Pirro for the position.

The White House did not immediately respond to the request for comments from ABC News. A representative of Fox News Press Relations did not immediately respond to the request for comments from ABC News, any more than Pirro.

Pirro has been a long -standing ally of Trump, going back to his time as a leading prosecutor in New York. She was a first parties in her 2016 campaign and defended it publicly during the scandal of the “Access Hollywood” band.

After the loss of Trump in the 2020 elections, Pirro pushed false allegations of electoral fraud involving voting machines and was then among the employees of Fox News appointed in the Dominion voting systems for the dissemination of false allegations on the company. Fox News finally designed for $ 787.5 million and admitted that the statements were false.

In 2019, Pirro would have been suspended by Fox News after questioning the loyalty of the Democratic MP Ilhan Omar to the American Constitution, citing the Muslim faith of Omar.

Martin, who was in the running to become the best prosecutor in one of the most important American lawyer offices in the country, has been the acting lawyer in the United States since the start of the administration, but his interim mandate expires on May 20.

Martin promoted the “Stop The Steal” campaign of Donald Trump in 2021 and was himself seen on the Capitol field during the January 6 attack on the American Capitol.

Trump said Thursday that Martin could be used as another title at the Ministry of Justice.

One of Trump’s last acts before leaving his duties in 2021 was to deliver a last-minute forgiveness to the former Pirro-Mari, a longtime donor of the GOP.

With less than an hour before the end of his mandate, Trump granted Albert Pirro a last forgiveness, who was sentenced more than two decades ago in 34 conspiracy and tax evasion chiefs after being deemed badly deduced by more than $ 1 million in sumptuous personal expenses as a tax cancellation for his businesses.
