Trump prices update live: Trump threatens an additional 50% price on China

Trump Monday threatened to increase prices against China again if Beijing does not remove the reprisals he has placed in the United States
Trump wrote on his social media platform that “if China does not withdraw its 34% increase above their trade abuses already in the long term by tomorrow, on April 8, 2025, the United States will impose additional prices on China by 50%, from April 9.”
“In addition, all discussions with China concerning their meetings requested with us will be dismissed! Negotiations with other countries, which have also requested meetings, are starting to take place immediately,” he added.

A senior White House official said that this would be added to the rate of 34% “reciprocal” that Trump announced last week to enter into force on Wednesday and the 20% which is already in place, which allows a total potential of a tariff of 104%.
