House GOP publishes a Stopgap invoice to avoid closing

House Republican Leaders on Saturday revealed A draft law on the financing of the GOP, known as continuous resolution, which will finance the government at current levels until the end of September.

The 99 -page bill of law moderately increases the defense expenses by approximately $ 6 billion more than the levels of exercise 2024, while non -defensive expenses are approximately $ 13 billion lower than the levels of the 2024, according to GOP leaders. There are an additional $ 6 billion for veterans’ health care.

The measure leaves aside the emergency financing of disasters and the financing of the community project.

In particular, there are financing funds in the bill, called “anomalies”, including a reduction of $ 20 billion to the ERS in enlisting and an increase in financing of immigration and customs deportation operations.

GOP leaders say the bill was closely coordinated with the White House. The financing levels in the bill are lower than those which take place previously within the framework of this bipartite financing agreement in 2023.

President Mike Johnson, R-La., Decarges from this GOP plan and should have a vote in the House on Tuesday without the support of the Democrats.

However, passing this republican plan into the two chambers will be a real challenge with the deadline of March 14 for less than a week.

Democrats are not on board the proposal, which means that Republicans need almost unanimous support. Johnson has little room for error with his thin majority 218-214 and can only afford to lose a defection if all members vote and present.

The member of the Credit Committee of the Chamber, Rosa Delauro, D-Conn., Criticized the GOP proposal in a press release published on Saturday.

“I firmly oppose this continuous resolution of the year, which is a takeover for the White House and also allows the uncontrolled billionaire Elon Musk and President Trump to fly to the American people,” wrote Delauro.

“By essentially closing the book on negotiations for annual financing bills that help the middle class and protecting our national security, my colleagues on the other side of the aisle have given their power to an unadumped billionaire,” she added.
