NYC’s congestion price generates nearly $ 50 million in the 1st month while Trump Admin moves for Kill Plan

The New York congestion price toll generated nearly $ 50 million in income in its first month, officials said on Monday, while the Trump administration moves to kill the first program of the nation.
From January 5, the first day of the program, on January 31, the tolls of the congestion pricing program generated $ 48.66 million, according to the Metropolitan Transportation Authoritywhich manages the metros of the city as well as the bridges and the rails of suburban.
The net income of this period was $ 37.5 million to take into account expenses to manage the program, said MTA.
The program is on the right track to generate $ 500 million in net income by the end of this year, as initially planned, MTA said.
“With an initial performance in accordance with projections, we can advance with confidence the projects based on funds from the congestion rescue zone,” said MTA financial director Kevin Willens, in a press release. “We look forward to seeing similar results in the coming months.”

The update comes after the United States Ministry of Transport said last week that it had withdrawn the Federal Approval of the Plan following an examination requested by President Donald Trump.
The examination revealed that the “scope of this approved pilot project exceeds the authorized authority authorized by the Congress” as part of the Pilot Pilot Program for the Value of the Federal Highway Administration, said the Secretary of Transport on Wednesday DUFFY.
Trump celebrated the decision of the dowry, saying on his social media platform Truth Social, “The prize for congestion is dead. Manhattan, and all New York, is saved. Long live the king!”
The MTA said that he had immediately disputed the overthrow of the Trump administration before the Federal Court. The MTA requests a declaration judgment to the court according to which the decision of the dowry is “not appropriate” and does not deactivate the tolls under the program until there is an order of the court, president and chief of the Direction, Janno Lieber, said on Wednesday.
Duffy, who called the “unfair” plan, told CBS News On Wednesday, it would be open to a form of congestion pricing while questioning the price of the New York toll.
The congestion pricing plan invoices passenger vehicles $ 9 to access Manhattan below the 60th street during peak hours as part of an effort to facilitate congestion and collect funds for the transport system in common from the city. During peak hours, small trucks and charter buses are billed $ 14.40 and large trucks and tourist buses pay $ 21.60.
According to MTA conclusions, 68% of $ 48.66 million in revenues generated in January came from passenger vehicles, 22% of taxis and vehicles for rental, 9% of trucks and 1% of buses and motorcycles.
New York officials praised the success of the program in the softening of traffic, with Hochul last week that congestion “dropped considerably” since the program entered into force last month.
